I find that each person is unique and special. I believe people deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Through counseling the individual can learn more about him/herself but also acquires new skills. Sometimes people just need someone to listen. Having the ability to talk in confidential, safe spaces is important as it allows us to discuss difficult topics without fear of judgment or consequence.

I have been employed by the State of Nebraska since 1986 working with adolescents at the Nebraska Center for Children and Youth (Whitehall). I then transferred to the Lincoln Regional Center in 1993 and have worked with adults who have a variety of mental illnesses. Currently, I am a therapist and Clinical Program Manager for the Sex Offender Services Cognitive Behavioral Change Program, the Psychiatric Transition program and Competency restoration program.

I graduated from Doane University with a Master’s in Counseling, have my Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, recognized at both the State and National level, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have also been an adjunct professor at Doane University-Lincoln and Southeast Community College-Lincoln.

I have specialized training and interest in domestic violence and sexual assault/trauma, as well as working with, adults, relationships, pornography, or divorce issues. I also have unique and specialized training in sexual issues and sex offenders. Along with my training, I have spoken in the community on topics of suicide, working with mental illness, and sex offenders.
